My seventh-grader has a wonderful cadre of pluralistic Jewish friends, and one of the nicest things is how everyone shares bar- and bat-mitzvah celebrations. Because there are observances all over the religious map, each family sends an instructional email. There are a lot of comments about headgear. Which reminded me of a certain book....
